Journey of the Labyrinth

In this activity, students will build a LEGO® labyrinth. In the center, they will build a structure that represents a place of calm such as a fountain. As you move your finger or a character through the labyrinth, discuss strong emotions or events, and coping strategies that will help them to navigate to the calming center. You may also wish to build a guardian or creature to represent a problem that creates an obstacle to finding a sense of calmness and discuss strategies for overcoming this challenge.

Brick Mandalas

One of my favorite calming and soothing activities for self-expression is making mandalas! It is also fun to make them out of bricks and adds a new dynamic with hands-on building! Use the template below to try building your next mandala!

Brick Rosebush

In this activity, based on the Gestalt rosebush technique, students or clients will build a rosebush using toy building bricks and discuss various features of their rosebush using the supplemental worksheet below. Features of the rosebush such as flowers or thorns can be represented by different colored bricks or specially shaped brick flower pieces as shown in the sample picture.
